“In the Opinion of the Censor” Documentary Synopsis

In The Opinion of the Censor delves into the turbulent and often absurd history of Ireland’s film censorship board, a state institution that for decades decided what the Irish public could and could not see on screen.

Featuring rare archival footage, interviews with filmmakers, historians, and former censors, the documentary reveals how morality, politics, and power intersected in shaping Ireland’s cinematic identity.
